~ Moshiach Seder: Honoring the Midwives ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Pharoah ordered that the firstborn Hebrew sons be murdered at birth, two midwives refused, and saved the people who “multiplied and increased greatly” in spite of the decree. Midwives hold a place of honor in Jewish culture, partly because of this first biblical act of civil disobedience.
Celebrate their bravery -- and ours in helping birth a better future -- as we revive Keneset HaLev's tradition of the Moshiach Seder. Who better to honor on the last night of an 8-day festival of freedom and rebirth? Join the KHL community, Maggid Jonathan Furst, and special guest midwives and doulas.
The Arba Ruchot -- the Four Winds -- correspond to the Four Directions on the Hebrew medicine wheel in Jewish Mysticism and Shamanic tradition. This interactive workshop will focus on the nature of these winds and their living breathing presence in our lives.
We will utilize a powerful wind invocation, chant, and meditation in the way of our Hebrew Ancestors, as well as related spiritual practices embedded in mainstream Jewish prayer. Good for both Mystic and Earthy minded folk.
